Hallowe’en before Christmas

by Melinda

Although the stores are gearing up for Christmas, I don’t decorate until AFTER Thanksgiving.  Actually I wait until December.

But today I wanted to wish everyone Happy Hallowe‘en!  Perhaps these seasonal verses will put you in the mood for the evening festivities. Have fun on this eery Halloween and take care.

May Jack-o-lanterns burning bright
Of soft and golden hue
Pierce through the future’s veil and show
What fate now holds for you.

Witch's Cauldron - pumpkin carving

Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg, and owlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

William Shakespeare

Witches in Macbeth.

A grandmother pretends she doesn’t know who you are on Halloween.

I have to brag. The Witch’s Cauldron pumpkin carving was done by my talented husband.

The kids who visit our home trick-or-treating each year on Halloween always ooh and ah about his elaborate pumpkin carvings. Actually the parents appreciate them the most. (Smile)

Oh, and here are a few tips on pumpkin carving I found on Holiday Haven.
